What is Augmented Reality?

Augmented reality is a new pillar of technology that links the physical world like home, hands, clothes, and other objects via digital visual elements. The fundamental desire is to illustrate the physical world with the features of technology and emphasize its suitability, usability, and suitability of it.

If you like clothing, you can wear your chosen one at home and analyze how it fits and looks on your body, without leaving your home. You can essentially use it as an assistant of the physical world on your mobile device or cellphone. It is also possible for users to experience these features in real life and touch them.

Augmented reality keeps on developing more applications, sensors, devices, and displays to show its ability. This technology needs more hardware materials like cameras, GPS, processors, sensors, and anything that can join the real world to visual digital displays.

How does augmented reality work?

Augmented reality designers prepared physical objects of the world with digital-generated input. These objects make a 3D world that supports users to connect the physical and digital worlds at the same time. Elements in the physical world like voices, colors, and physical masses of information collected by sensors in devices like glasses or smartphones. This information must change for AR to show new information by the device. Changed information added to the physical world as a part of the environment.

Pokémon Go is a valuable example of AR that connects digital signals by physical settings. It was a new experience of connecting digital elements and the environment. Digital pieces in this game appear in the real environment via mobile devices like cell phones and tablets. Users can collect these elements in the world on their devices. These elements are not in the real world indeed and only the application and devices can find them.

What is augmented reality vs virtual reality?

There is a distinct difference between this kind of digital information and virtual reality which makes an absolutely artificial world. AR users can see the real environment in the neighborhood. VR creates a digital-based world in which users can separate from the world. AR is part of the touchable world that we see already, but the devices add new elements which create a new experience for them. Also, their needed devices are different. AR devices receive information about the real physical environment, but VR devices create a new world with their elements. AR can use ordinary devices like smartphones, but VR needs glasses and accessories to build a new world.

Types of augmented reality

There are several types of augmented reality. As an example, Marker-based AR. This type is tied to a specific physical image pattern marker in a real-world environment to superimpose the virtual 3D object, text, or animation on top of it. Or Location-based AR. This type refers to the augmentation to a specific place by reading the real-time data from a smartphone camera, GPS, and digital compass as well as an accelerometer.

Projection-based AR is another type of AR that is a method of delivering digital data within a stationary context as projection-based AR focuses on rendering virtual 3D objects within or on a user’s physical space.

The best example of AR is analyzing football and other sports games during the game. In the offside position, AR can add lines to illustrate the situation. Professionals and analyzers can draw lines, circles, and arrows to show the tactics and mistakes in the games.

Home furniture, clothes, and other objects in the home can be analyzed before purchasing them. The AR devices let you see how a sofa, TV, TV cabinet, or other furniture can be added to a home. A municipality can define new elements in the city by AR and find the best place for a statue, sculpture, or urban element.
